Robby Hecht
Robby Hecht is an American acoustic folk singer-songwriter from the United States, born in 1978. Raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, he starts writing and performing while studying at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he develops a soulful voice and a finger-style guitar approach. He later lives in Paris and San Francisco, then returns to Tennessee and settles in Nashville.
Recording and releases
His debut album, Late Last Night, is produced by Lex Price, mixed by Roger Moutenot, and includes guest appearances from Mindy Smith, Jeff Coffin, Thad Cockrell, Jill Andrews of The Everybodyfields, John Deaderick of Patty Griffin, Andrea Zonn of James Taylor, and others. He is also associated with an alt-country and folk style that draws on the acoustic pop of the early 1970s.
Career highlights
He wins the Kerrville New Folk competition in 2008 and performs at folk and roots festivals and venues across the United States. He also shares stages with Richie Havens, Greg Brown, and Patty Griffin. His songwriting and sound attract comparisons with early James Taylor, Paul Simon, and Amos Lee.
