Riverside
Riverside is a Polish progressive rock and progressive metal band from Warsaw, active since 2001. The group forms around bassist and vocalist Mariusz Duda, drummer Piotr Kozieradzki, guitarist Piotr Grudziński and keyboardist Jacek Melnicki. Melnicki leaves the band in 2003 and is replaced by Michał Łapaj.
Line-up changes
After Piotr Grudziński dies in 2016, Riverside continues as a trio before later working with guitarist Maciej Meller, who joins as a touring guitarist in 2017 and becomes a full member in 2020. The listed members also include Mariusz Duda, Piotr Kozieradzki, Jacek Melnicki, Michał Łapaj and Maciej Meller.
Albums and releases
The band’s debut album, Out of Myself, is released in Poland in 2003 and internationally in 2004. It is followed by the EP Voices in My Head in 2005 and the album Second Life Syndrome later that year. Riverside then releases Rapid Eye Movement in 2007, Anno Domini High Definition in 2009, Memories in My Head in 2011, Shrine of New Generation Slaves in 2013, Love, Fear and the Time Machine in 2015, Eye of the Soundscape in 2016, Wasteland in 2018, ID.Entity in 2023 and the live album Live ID. in 2025.
Notable details
Anno Domini High Definition achieves commercial success in Poland. Love, Fear and the Time Machine performs more strongly on international charts than earlier releases. Riverside also issues three extended plays, four live albums, three compilation albums and several singles. Before Riverside, Kozieradzki plays with the death metal band Hate from 1990 to 2001, while Grudziński performs with Unnamed from 1993 to 2003. In 2008, Duda begins the solo project Lunatic Soul.
