Ray Keith
Ray Keith is a drum and bass and jungle DJ and producer from Colchester, United Kingdom, born in 1967. He begins DJing at 15 and develops an early range of interests that includes soul, jazz, hip-hop and acid house. His influences include Fabio, Grooverider, Colin Hudd, Johnnie Walker and Eddie Richards.
DJ work
He starts out at the Crazy Club at the Astoria and also plays at Pet Shop Boys parties. He goes on to work for major event organisers and performs in countries including Switzerland, Iceland, Germany and Italy. He holds residencies at the Lazerdrome in Peckham, Milwaukees and the Paradise Club. His work is handled by Groove Connection.
His career also includes a number of touring mishaps, including one occasion when he arrives at an event in Yarmouth without his records after the car carrying his tunes gets lost. At the Astoria, he is once left waiting for the platform beneath the DJ booth to be lowered after his set ends.
Production and remixes
Alongside DJing, Ray Keith is known for remixes and production work. His credits include a remix of DJ Rap’s “Spritual Aura” and original tracks such as “Dubplate”, “Terrorist” and “Something I Feel”.
