Ralfe Band

Ralfe Band are an indie folk and indie pop group from Oxford, United Kingdom. Their music combines folk-influenced songs, surreal lyrics and arrangements shaped by classical and gypsy-inspired instrumentation.

The band’s debut album, Swords, is released in the UK in 2005 through Skint Records and in Europe in 2007 through Talitres Records, with two bonus tracks. Their second album, Attic Thieves, follows in 2008 on Loose and Talitres Records.

In 2010, the band releases the original soundtrack to Bunny and the Bull, a UK feature film directed by Paul King and produced by Warp Films. Their album Son Be Wise appears in 2013 on Highline Records.

Ralfe Band tour across Europe and perform at festivals in places including Istanbul, Ireland and Italy. Their video for “Women of Japan”, directed by Coan/Zorn, wins best video at South by Southwest in 2006. The song’s video is based on drawings by Oly Ralfe, who also creates the artwork for Swords, Attic Thieves and the related singles.

Oly Ralfe is also a filmmaker and makes two feature documentaries: The Ballad of AJ Weberman in 2007, about a Bob Dylan fan, and Journey of the Childmen - The Mighty Boosh on Tour in 2010, about the UK comedians. He also illustrates Joanna Kavenna’s novel A Field Guide To Reality.
