Portia Conn

Portia Conn is a British indie pop act from Stratford-upon-Avon, England. The project begins as the work of singer and songwriter Portia Conn, whose songs centre on leaving home, playing live and looking beyond her hometown. It is associated with acoustic-leaning, female-led pop and indie material.

Early development and label deal

Conn’s early music draws attention while she is still in her teens. After only a small number of live appearances, the act signs a worldwide deal with the UK label LAB Records and the US label Tragic Hero Records. That agreement leads to the release of the debut single and an EP release planned to follow.

Releases

The first single is I Don’t Care, described as a direct pop song. It is recorded by Julian Bowen, who has worked with The Auteur, MiMi Soya and Lost On Campus. The single is paired with Sandwich Shop as its supporting track. A debut EP follows afterwards.

Style and context

Portia Conn is presented as a youthful, ambitious pop project built around concise songwriting and a whimsical melodic style, with material rooted in acoustic pop and indie influences.
