PEGGY GOU is a Korean DJ, producer and songwriter from Incheon, based in Berlin, born in 1991. She works in house, techno, deep house, dance and electronic music, and is also known by her Korean name, Kim Min-ji.

Career

She begins her DJ career in 2009 and gains attention in Berlin’s underground electronic scene. Her recording career starts in 2016 with the EP The Art of War, released on Rekids. She later releases several albums and, in 2018, issues her first full-length album Once, which combines electronic music with traditional Korean rhythms.

Collaborations and performances

Gou collaborates with artists including Jimpster, Maurice Fulton and Tornado Wallace. She also performs at major festivals such as Coachella, Primavera Sound, Sonar and Dekmantel.

Recognition and other work

She is named by music publications as one of the world’s top DJs, and is included by Forbes in its 2019 list of “30 Most Influential People Under 30 in Culture”. She is also named by the BBC among the “100 most inspirational and influential women in music”.

Advocacy

Gou uses her platform to promote gender equality and diversity in electronic music. In 2020, she launches Gou Talk, a series of online conversations with women working in the music industry.
