Paul Evans is a rock and roll singer and songwriter from Queens, United States, active mainly in the 1950s and 1960s. He performs with Paul Evans & The Curls. As a singer, he has hits with “Seven Little Girls (Sitting in the Back Seat)”, “Midnight Special” and “Happy-Go-Lucky Me”. “Happy-Go-Lucky Me” also appears in John Waters’ film Pecker and in episode 3.10 of Scrubs.

As a songwriter, Evans has songs recorded by Elvis Presley, Jimmy Dean and Pat Boone. His biggest songwriting successes are “Roses are Red (My Love)”, which becomes a number one single for Bobby Vinton in the US, and “When”, which reaches number one in the UK and number five in the US for The Kalin Twins.

He also has a UK hit in 1978 with “Hello, This is Joni”, issued on some recordings as “Hello, This is Joanie (The Telephone Answering Machine Song)”. That song is written by Paul Evans and F. Tobias and produced by Jimmy “Wiz” Wisner. The B-side, “Lullaby Tissue Paper Co”, is written by Paul Evans and B. Wells and is also produced by Wisner.
