Out of Hand

Out of Hand is a name used by several different bands in hardcore and related punk and rock styles. One version is a hardcore band from the southern coast of England that starts in 2005. It describes itself as an aggressive punk-hardcore group and releases a 7-inch on Hemlock 13. That release is available through Dead & Gone Records in the UK and Grave Mistake Records in the US.

Another Out of Hand is a post-hardcore and alternative rock band from the Michigan and Ohio area that starts in 2014. This group later changes its name to Former. Its line-up includes Brandon McMaster, previously of Sleeping With Sirens and The Crimson Armada, on lead guitar and vocals; Caleb Spiece, formerly of Lakeland, on guitar and vocals; Chris Boisvert, formerly of Amative, on guitar and vocals; Nicholas Rupert on guitar; Nick Dewar and Bass on bass; AJ Petrarca, Kortney Grinwis and Joe Keck on drums. Under the name Out of Hand, the band releases the EP The Portrait in 2014, with a more melodic post-hardcore sound, before moving towards a more alternative rock style as Former. As Former, it releases The Dangers Of Growing Up and songs including “Darling” and “Burn In Hell.”

A third Out of Hand is a Canadian hardcore/thrash band that forms in 1993 when three high-school friends start playing together. After some experimentation and member changes, the group settles on the name Out Of Hand. In 1997 it signs a multi-album deal with Raw Energy Records in Toronto and begins touring its first release, Canadian Gothic, which becomes a southern Ontario punk rock favourite. The band plays shows across British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec, and shares stages with Propagandhi, The Dayglo Abortions, Diesel Boy, The Nobody’s, SNFU, DOA, Trigger Happy and Raised Fist. After a four-year hiatus, it returns to activity and remains associated with fast, intense hardcore-influenced music.

A release called The Dirty South is also associated with Out of Hand.
