Nothing More

Nothing More is an American rock band from San Antonio, Texas, active since 2002. Their line-up includes Josh Kercheville, Jonny Hawkins, Mark Vollelunga, Daniel Oliver, Trey Graham and Ben Anderson. The band works across alternative metal, alternative rock, hard rock, heavy metal, progressive metal and progressive rock.

Career

The band forms in 2003 and spends much of its early years recording independent albums while trying to keep a stable line-up and attract label interest. By the end of the 2000s, drummer Jonny Hawkins moves to frontman and lead vocalist, which helps establish a more settled core around Hawkins, guitarist Mark Vollelunga and bassist Daniel Oliver.

Nothing More self-funds and records its fourth studio album, Nothing More, over three years. The album brings the band to the attention of Eleven Seven Music, which signs them to a five-album recording contract. Released in 2014, it becomes their breakthrough record and produces several charting singles, including “This is the Time (Ballast)”, which reaches number 1 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart and number 2 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. “Mr. MTV”, “Jenny” and “Here’s to the Heartache” also reach the top 15 of both charts.

The band begins work on a follow-up in 2016 while continuing to tour behind its self-titled release. In September 2017, it issues The Stories We Tell Ourselves, its fifth studio album and second on a major label. The lead single, “Go to War”, reaches number 1 on the Mainstream Rock chart. The album receives three Grammy Award nominations: Best Rock Album for the album itself, and Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance for “Go to War”.

Later releases

Nothing More continues promoting The Stories We Tell Ourselves into 2018, with singles including “Do You Really Want It?” and “Just Say When”, and tours across North America into 2019. The band releases its sixth studio album, Spirits, in 2022, followed by its seventh, Carnal (stylised as CARNAL), in 2024.
