Neil McSweeney
Neil McSweeney is a British songwriter and musician based in Sheffield, England. He is born in Irvine, Scotland, and plays acoustic guitar in a style that draws on folk, blues and country. He is also known for his voice and for direct, personal lyrics.
Releases
His first album, Remember To Smile, is released in 2006. In 2007, London label KIDS puts out the singles Postcards and Rope To Hang. His second album, Shoreline, is released in 2009. In 2013, he releases The Seventeen EP and a third full-length album, Cargo.
Collaborators and live work
Cargo includes contributions from Lucy Farrell, Sam Sweeney, Brooks Williams, Matt Boulter, Vera Van Heeringen, Jock Tyldesley and Andy Seward, among others. McSweeney also sometimes tours with a backing band under the name Neil McSweeney & The Gents.
