Negramaro

Negramaro is an Italian rock band from Copertino, Italy. The group is active from 2000 and is associated with acoustic rock, alternative pop, alternative rock, classic rock, pop and pop rock. Its line-up includes Giuliano Sangiorgi and Emanuele "Lele" Spedicato, and it records on Sugar.

Name and early recognition

The band takes its name from Negroamaro, the red grape variety and wine from Puglia in southern Italy. Its first major success comes with Come sempre, from the 2003 album Negramaro. The song is selected by RAI for a 50th anniversary television advertisement.

Breakthrough releases

Negramaro makes its debut at Sanremo Festival in the young artists section with Mentre tutto scorre. The song later becomes the title track for Alessandro D'Alatri's film La febbre, which features Fabio Volo, and eight other Negramaro songs also appear on the soundtrack.

Later success

In 2005, the band wins the Festivalbar Best Newcomer award with Estate. The single reaches the top of the Italian charts, and the group later wins Best Italian Band at the MTV Music Awards.
