Marcus Nasty is a British DJ from London who works in funky house, old skool, house, garage and UK funky. He begins DJing in 1998 and first appears on Flava FM in 1999. He becomes known as a leading figure in the UK house scene and as a solo performer.

Career

Marcus Nasty forms the group N.A.S.T.Y. by bringing together vocalists, MCs and rappers from across the UK. The first MCs alongside him are Sharky Major and Stormin'. The project develops a wider crew that includes DJ Mac 10, Nasty Jack, Hyper, Griminal, Little Nasty, Kano, D Double E, Ghetto, Demon, Footsie, Monkey, Jammer, Kassimo, Younger and 45. He also helps produce some more commercial artists active on the streets and gains bookings that take him to Ayia Napa, Amsterdam, Sweden and Germany.

He is also active as a radio DJ and hosts a regular UK house show on Rinse FM every Wednesday. He appears as a guest on stations including Kiss FM, BBC Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra and Choice FM. His work also extends to hosting UK underground chart shows.

His set style combines funky house and old skool, and he is associated with the pioneering of the UK house scene. He plays at clubs, showcases and events across the UK, including Sun City, Sidewinder, Download, La Cosa Nostra, As It Is TV, Rememberance, Nice & Niche, Rainforest Cafe, GarageNation, Carling Academy, Funky Nation, Plush, Brunei Rooms in Swindon, Club Liberty, Old Skool Pressure, Back2Napa, Jam Pak and Ministry of Sound.

Marcus Nasty works with a wide range of UK urban artists and DJs, including David Rodigan, DJ Cameo, Skepta, JME, Mike “Ruff Cut” Lloyd, DJ Ironik, Wiley, Scottie B, Jammie Duggan, MC Creed, Hotsteppa, DJ Murks, MC Rankin, DJ Pioneer, Roll Deep, Sharky P, HLC, EZ, Ras Kwame and DJ Footloose. He is also linked with his brothers Mak 10, Lil Nasty and Griminal.

He is nominated for Best Old Skool DJ at the People’s Choice Sidewinder Awards. He is also known for appearing on UK street DVDs and for presenting himself as direct and outspoken in those appearances.
