LUCAS

LUCAS is the stage name of producer and songwriter Lucas Secon, a Danish-American musician from Copenhagen, Denmark, born in 1970. He works in pop and has also been tagged with psytrance, hardcore, k-pop and K-pop.

He debuts in 1990 with the album To Rap My World Around You after being signed to Uptown Records by Andre Harrell. In 1992 he moves to Atlantic Records. His 1994 album Lucacentric becomes his best-known release and has a stronger jazz influence than his earlier work. The album goes top 10 in at least 10 countries and reaches the top 30 in the United States.

His single Lucas With The Lid Off, from Lucacentric, brings further attention. The video, directed by Michel Gondry, is shot in one take across different sets and receives a Grammy nomination for Best Music Video, Short Form and a MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best Male Video in 1995. The video also ranks at number four in MTV US’s list of best videos of all time.

LUCAS is credited with helping to sell more than 20 million records and receives multiple gold and platinum records across the US, UK and other territories. He has several top five and top 10 singles, as well as a number one.
