Lowline
Lowline are a British indie rock band from Manchester, active since 2007. The group consists of Robbie Rush on guitar and vocals, Andy Hewitt on guitar and backing vocals, Mikey Hosker on bass, and Sam Clarke on drums.
Releases
The band releases music through their own label, Deaf Radio. Their debut album, Lowline, comes out in 2011 and is recorded in Stockport with production by George Shilling. The album includes 12 tracks, plus two bonus tracks, among them a Jagz Kooner remix of “Disko Killers”.
The track “Outside”, taken from the album, is named Single of the Week on iTunes in the United States, helping the record reach number 20 on the iTunes USA Alternative chart and remain in the top 30 for more than a week. The band is also named iTunes USA Alternative Breakthrough Artist of the Year for 2011.
Lowline’s later EP, The Howler, contains five tracks. It includes “Bury My Soul”, which features Nick McCabe of The Verve on guitar.
Early singles and touring
Lowline form in Manchester in late 2007. Their first single, “Monitors”, is released early in 2008 on 1234 Records and is produced by Owen Morris, who works with Oasis and The Verve. “Monitors” reaches number 6 in the UK Indie chart, as does the follow-up single “Sound of Music”, which is also produced by Morris.
The band tours across the UK and Europe before returning to Manchester to set up Deaf Radio and issue their own album release.
