Lol Hammond

Lol Hammond is a British multi-instrumentalist, DJ, producer and music supervisor from North London, born in 1965. He begins making electronic music with the sound system Spiral Tribe in 1991 and later records under his own name.

Drum Club and early releases

Around the same time, Hammond forms Drum Club with London DJ Charlie Hall. The pair also start a club of the same name. Drum Club releases three albums and tours extensively with acts including Orbital and The Prodigy. Its early singles, including U Make Me Feel So Good and Alchemy, appear on Guerilla Records and become club favourites.

Remixes, collaborations and solo work

Hammond remixes a wide range of artists, including Alabama 3, The Fall, Jah Wobble, Lush, Curve and Killing Joke, which he remixes twice. As a solo artist, he releases the ambient album All This Is Bliss and the Piano Lessons EP on Big Chill Recordings. In 1999, he releases Damaged, a collaboration with Roger Eno, on All Saints. He also has a project with Brian Eno that remains unreleased in the information provided.

Film and television work

Hammond’s music features in several films, including The World Is Not Enough, Southwest 9, Halloween, Football Factory and It’s All Gone Pete Tong. He also appears in Southwest 9 as a DJ. His work as a music supervisor includes Southwest 9, Football Factory, Pusher 2 and It’s All Gone Pete Tong, and he works for Vertigo Films for five years. He also scores the trailer for The World Is Not Enough.

Later activity

Alongside DJ sets around the world, Hammond continues to combine production, writing and music supervision with fatherhood. He has a son, Arthur, born in 2005.
