One artist using the name
One Linguistics is Max Owen, a hip-hop artist and MC for Friction, based in London.
Another act using the name
Another Linguistics is a trio of MCs: Kasper, IQ, and Entity. All three also work as solo acts. Kasper and Entity first work together in a group called Kastlevania in the 1990s and early 2000s, and the group wins a San Diego music award for best new hip-hop before later breaking up.
IQ works on a mix CD through his company Intelligence Records, which he founds with his cousin Jay War. Jay, a long-time friend of Kasper, brings him into the project, which leads to Kasper and IQ making songs together. They later bring in Entity, and the three decide to make an album after a studio session shows how well they work as a group.
The trio draws on different regional hip-hop backgrounds: Entity brings a southern style from Texas, Kasper brings an east coast influence, and IQ brings a west coast influence.
