Laura Wright

Laura Wright is a singer from Framsden, England, born in 1990, whose work spans folk, classical crossover and classical music. She wins the BBC Radio 2 Chorister of the Year award at the age of 15, which leads to performances across the UK, including as soloist in John Rutter’s Requiem at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Performance career

Wright performs at major venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena, Twickenham, Old Trafford, the O2 Arena and the Royal Festival Hall. She also performs for HM The Queen and the Prime Minister.

All Angels

Wright is a member of All Angels, the female vocal quartet launched in 2006 and signed to Universal. She records three albums with the group. Their first album becomes the fastest-selling classical album of all time, receives a platinum disc and helps drive total sales beyond a million. The group is nominated for Classical Brit Award for Album of the Year in 2007.

Training and competitions

In 2009, Wright wins a scholarship to the Royal College of Music to study opera. She also competes in the Junior Kathleen Ferrier Bursary Award and the Chelsea Schubert Competition.

Other activities

Wright takes part in charity concerts for Venice in Peril, the chosen charity for the Venice Marathon. She also has a record of sporting achievements, including county-level hockey, tennis, athletics and javelin, and she captains netball, hockey and tennis teams. She runs the Venice Marathon and is due to run the Virgin London Marathon in 2011.

Notable event appearance

Wright is due to sing the national anthem at Wembley for the Carling Cup Final in 2011.
