Kristyna Myles is a singer-songwriter from Leicester, United Kingdom, whose work sits in soul. She is known for writing and performing soulful, thoughtful and powerful songs, and for a voice-led style that centres on live performance.

Early life and first performances

Myles first performs publicly at the age of 4 in a church choir. That early experience leads into a career built around live singing and busking.

Breakthrough and recordings

She gets her first major break in 2005 busking on the streets of Manchester, where she wins BBC Radio 5 Live Busk Idol with guitarist Ben Williams. Based in Manchester, she later tours Europe and appears on BBC One, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 4.

Her self-written song My Lord appears on Universal Records compilation Songbird 2008 alongside artists including Amy Winehouse, Eva Cassidy and Erykah Badu. In 2012 she releases her debut single I’m not going back on Decca Records, and the song receives critical attention in Music Week, with coverage also appearing in The Daily Mail and The Sun.

Debut album

Myles works toward her debut album with Grammy Award-winning producer Ken Nelson, whose credits include Coldplay, Paolo Nutini and Gomez. The album includes songs written across a ten-year span, from one of her earliest songs, Betrayal, written at 16, to Make it right, written around ten years later. The album is titled Pinch Me Quick.

Live work and collaborations

She performs at SXSW in the United States and at arenas across Europe with Chris De Burgh. She also supports Mick Hucknall, Will Young, Status Quo, Pink Martini and M People, and appears with Lemar and The Wanted at Jersey’s Big Gig in the Park. She has also toured Europe and performed on a busking tour of the UK.

Charity work

Myles is an ambassador for Centrepoint, a UK charity supporting young homeless people. As part of this work, she undertakes a busking tour of the UK to raise funds for the organisation and meets patron HRH Prince William and Prince Harry.
