Klimax

Klimax is a Cuban timba group led by Giraldo Piloto. It is distinct from a Finnish hardcore punk band of the same name.

Background

Giraldo Piloto is a drummer, songwriter and arranger from a family of well-known Cuban musicians and composers. He is active across the first decade of timba history and is also a founding member of NG La Banda, described as the first timba band.

Career

Piloto writes La Charanga Habanera’s first major hit, “Me Sube la Fiebre,” and contributes several other songs. After Issac Delgado leaves NG La Banda to form his own group, Piloto becomes Delgado’s musical director. He forms Klimax in 1995 as his own band.

Releases and touring

Klimax releases three CDs on Spain’s Eurotropical label and tours extensively in Europe and South America.
