Kids In Glass Houses are a pop punk and pop rock band from Cardiff, United Kingdom. The group forms in 2003 and consists of vocalist Aled Phillips, guitarists Joel Fisher and Iain Mahanty, bassist Andrew Shay and drummer Philip Jenkins. They are active from 2004 to 2014, and reform in 2022.

Early releases and label signing

The band releases its debut EP, E-Pocalypse, in 2006 while still unsigned. In December 2007, it signs with Roadrunner Records. By this point the band attracts attention from music magazines and radio stations including Kerrang, NME, Big Cheese, Rock Sound, Tuned, Total Guitar, BBC Radio 1 and XFM.

Breakthrough period

In August 2007, Kids In Glass Houses receive a nomination for Best British Newcomer at the Kerrang! Awards, but lose out to Gallows. During the same period they tour as a headline act with Tonight Is Goodbye, support Funeral For A Friend on their December tour, and also play shows with Lostprophets, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Cute Is What We Aim For, Simple Plan, New Found Glory and 30 Seconds to Mars. They also appear at The Full Ponty Festival, Download Festival, Hyde Park Calling, Farnham’s Summer Breeze Festival, Collision Course Festival, and the Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Albums and collaborations

Their debut album, Smart Casual, is released in 2008 and includes the singles “Fisticuffs”, “Give Me What I Want” and “Easy Tiger”. Their second album, Dirt, follows in 2010. Its singles are “Youngblood (Let It Out)” and “Matters At All”. The album includes guest appearances from Frankie Sandford of The Saturdays on “Undercover Lover” and New Found Glory on “Maybe Tomorrow”.

Disbandment and return

The band announces its split in 2014, describing the decision as amicable and made on its own terms. In 2022, Kids In Glass Houses reform.
