Kidnap Kid

Kidnap Kid is the former name of Matt Relton, a UK electronic music producer and DJ from Sheffield, Yorkshire. He works under the name Kidnap, having previously used Kidnap Kid.

Relton is associated with deep house, techno, future garage, dubstep and electronica. He is an English electronic dance music record producer and DJ, and the verified facts identify him as a UK producer.

He is educated at Silverdale School in Sheffield and later completes a degree in Politics and Crime at the University of Leeds. His third EP, and first release on Black Butter Records, is Alphaville, which takes its title from the 1965 French film of the same name.

Relton is perhaps best known for “Vehl”, which receives iTunes US’s Best Electronic Song of 2012 award.

He later moves away from the Kidnap Kid name, introducing the shorter Kidnap alias and beginning that change with the two-track EP Skin.
