Kalakuta Millionaires
Kalakuta Millionaires is a UK-based AfroFunk Latino group from Brighton. It performs as an eight- to 14-piece outfit and combines Afro-Latin funk with brass-led arrangements, Latin percussion, afro-psych organ and funk guitar lines.
Style and influences
The group draws on Fela Kuti-inspired brass parts and blends sounds associated with 1970s Nigeria, Cuban carnival music and Brazilian street rhythms. Its line-up includes a brass section, harmonies and a rhythm section built around funk and Afro-Latin percussion.

Kalakuta Millionaires appears on BBC Radio 2 in a Maida Vale session for Mark Lamarr’s God’s Jukebox and on Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul Show on BBC Radio 6 Music. It is associated with the UK festival circuit and is based in Brighton.
