José González

José González is a Swedish singer-songwriter and guitarist from Gothenburg, born in 1978. He works in folk, folk rock, indie folk, indie pop and indie rock, and his style is closely associated with solo acoustic guitar and soft melodies. He also has Argentine roots.

Career

In 2003, González releases his debut album Veneer. The album later appears in the UK and the United States. From this record, Crosses becomes associated with the second season finale of the American television series The O.C., while Heartbeats features in a Sony BRAVIA television commercial and in an episode of Scrubs. Far Away also appears in the video game Red Dead Redemption.

His recordings also include acoustic versions of songs such as Love Will Tear Us Apart, Born in the U.S.A. and Teardrop. He appears on Zero 7’s album The Garden, singing on three tracks and on a reworked version of Crosses.

Other projects

González is a member of the band Junip, alongside Elias Araya and Tobias Winterkorn. He also performs as José González & The String Theory.
