Jonas Rathsman

Jonas Rathsman is a Swedish dance music producer and DJ from Western Sweden. He grows up in a small village before moving to Gothenburg at the age of 18, where he starts organising parties and club nights and becomes established in the city’s underground scene.

Career

After moving into production, he begins exploring a wide range of club styles. Together with his close friend Fredrik Nyberg, also known as DJ Nibc, he releases music under the alias Stuffa. That project gains recognition in both European underground circles and on more mainstream dancefloors.

In 2010, Stuffa releases the single Proof on Defected, which becomes a major club anthem that year. Rathsman later stops using pseudonyms and begins releasing material under his own name.

Solo work

His debut EP, Tobago, appears on French Express in 2011. The track receives support online and through radio play, including on BBC Radio 1, and it also appears on a number of DJ mixtapes, including one by Magician. The release is later signed to Defected for a further issue.

Other work

Rathsman is also the co-owner and producer behind Uniforms for the Dedicated, a collective and fashion brand. His music is associated with electronic, nu-disco, tropical disco and house.
