Joe Ariwa is a dub and reggae producer and sound engineer from south-east London. He works in and around Ariwa Studios and is described as an apprentice of Mad Professor, from whom he takes the Ariwa name.

His productions draw on a wide range of influences from his London upbringing, including reggae, hip hop, soul, garage and electronica. These influences show up in his work through heavy reggae bass lines, sharply defined hip hop-style snares, soulful melodies and chord structures, and effects-led dub treatment using phasers, flangers, reverbs and delays.

Joe Ariwa’s work is rooted in dub but crosses into related styles such as funky house and dubstep. He appears on “Funky House Dub” with Karmelody under the name The Trixsters, and on “Dub Tech Dub”, which uses a dubstep style.

He also records a joint dub series with Mad Professor called Rewired For Dub, issued on Ariwa Sounds.
