Jimmy Eat World
Jimmy Eat World are an alternative rock band from Mesa, United States, active since 1993. The group’s current lineup includes Jim Adkins on vocals and guitar, Zach Lind on drums, Tom Linton on guitar and vocals, and Rick Burch on bass. The band is associated with alternative rock, emo, emo pop, indie rock, pop punk and pop rock, and is linked to Capitol Records.
Career
Jimmy Eat World release ten studio albums, with the last nine recorded by the current lineup. Their early records include Jimmy Eat World (1994), Static Prevails (1996) and Clarity (1999). Their commercial breakthrough comes with Bleed American (2001), which produces several singles that reach the Top 20 of the Alternative Songs chart, including “The Middle”, which reaches number one.
The follow-up album Futures (2004) also yields an Alternative Songs number one with “Pain”. Bleed American is certified platinum by the RIAA and Futures is certified gold; together the two albums sell more than one and a half million records. The band’s sixth album, Chase This Light (2007), becomes its highest-charting release, reaching number five on the Billboard 200.
