Jill Jackson
Jill Jackson is a Scottish singer-songwriter and former frontwoman of Speedway. She comes from Paisley and is described in the Nashville press as the “Scottish Songbird”. As a solo performer, she works in a style that is different from the rock sound associated with her earlier band.
Career
Jackson performs as a solo artist from 2005. Before that, she fronts the rock band Speedway, with whom she scores two top ten hits in 2004. Her solo work moves away from that earlier rock-chick image and into country-influenced territory.
Live work and collaborations
She supports Albert Lee, Roger McGuinn and Bryan Adams, and she also spends the end of 2008 on a “50 States in 50 Days” tour of the United States. In February 2009 she returns to the studio to record a second album with her band, which includes Alan Frew on guitar, Lorna Thomas on bass guitar and Carl Taylor on drums.
