Jason Mraz is an American singer-songwriter from Mechanicsville, Virginia, born in 1977. He works in acoustic rock, pop and pop rock, and his music also draws on reggae, rock, folk, jazz and hip hop.
Career
Mraz releases his debut album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come, in 2002. The following year, “The Remedy” and “You and I Both” become his first major hits. His second album, Mr. A-Z, arrives in 2005 and reaches number five on the Billboard 200.
In 2008, he releases We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things., which debuts at number three on the Billboard 200 and becomes a commercial success internationally. Its lead single, “I’m Yours”, gives him his first top ten hit in the US, reaching number six on the Billboard Hot 100, and is certified triple Platinum by the RIAA. The song also tops the charts in New Zealand and Norway and reaches the top ten in several other countries.
His fourth studio album, Love Is a Four Letter Word, is released in 2012. It receives favourable reviews and debuts at number two on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart.
Style and other facts
Mraz is described as a Grammy-winning artist. He keeps a health-conscious lifestyle, eats mostly raw vegan food, and owns an avocado farm in Bonsall in Northern San Diego County.
He is also known for being engaged to singer-songwriter Tristan Prettyman, although the engagement ends.
