Ian Broudie is a musician and producer from Liverpool, England. Born in 1958, he starts out in Liverpool’s punk scene in the 1970s and becomes known first through his work in several bands, including Big in Japan, Original Mirrors, Care and Ellery Bop. He is also a producer under the name Kingbird.
Before forming The Lightning Seeds at the end of the 1980s, he works with acts such as Echo and the Bunnymen, The Icicle Works and The Fall. With The Lightning Seeds he scores a first hit with “Pure” and goes on to make a series of well-received singles and albums during the 1990s. The group also reaches number one twice with “Three Lions”, recorded with comedians Frank Skinner and David Baddiel for the Euro '96 and France '98 tournaments.
In 2004 he releases his debut solo album, Tales Told, which moves into folk rock and differs from the pop style associated with The Lightning Seeds. He later focuses on production work for other artists, including The Coral, The Subways, The Zutons and several songs by I Am Kloot. He is also a supporter of Liverpool Football Club.
