Hunger Moon

Hunger Moon is a San Francisco group active from 1977 to the present. Its line-up includes Blaine L. Reininger, Steven Brown, Bruce Geduldig, Greg Langston, Luc van Lieshout, Peter Principle, Winston Tong and Paul Zahl.

The group works in art rock, avant-garde, electronic, experimental rock, minimal wave and post-punk, and releases material on Cramboy and Tuxedomoon Records.

Hunger Moon is also associated with Boise, Idaho in the context of a separate folk-rock act formed there in early 2009. That project performs upbeat, fast-paced folk and indie material and uses a wide range of percussion and improvised instruments, including wooden sticks, triangle, cowbell, washboard, spoon and bottle. Audience participation is part of its live set-up, with listeners sometimes helping on simple percussion and foot stomping.

The Boise line-up includes Andrew Link on acoustic guitar and vocals, Scott Parish on ganjo and vocals, Adam Showalter on electric bass and vocals, Hanna Beaton on tambourine, kazoo and vocals, and Chris Hurd on washboard and bass vocals. It records only one demo and is described as a short-lived group that has split up, while remaining a notable part of the Boise music scene.
