Hello Mexico
Hello Mexico is a band from London, England, originally active in post-hardcore before moving towards alternative rock with a more experimental and progressive approach. The group later records and performs under the name St. Sleep.
Releases
Hello Mexico releases three EPs and one single. Its debut EP, I Am The River, is recorded at Outhouse Studios in October 2009 and issued as a digital-only release. After a period of writing, the band records three new songs with Dan Lancaster in March 2010 for Five Twenty Seven, which appears in both digital and physical formats in June 2010. Those tracks move away from the band’s earlier aggressive sound in favour of a more restrained, melodic and delicate style with progressive elements. A digital single, Sleeper, follows in October 2010. In May 2011 the band releases a five-track self-titled EP as a limited free download for the first 1,000 downloaders.
Line-up
The band’s members include Myles Pereira on vocals, Gulli Gunnarsson on piano and vocals, Nick Calafato and John Martinelli on guitar, Jonathan Goldthorpe on bass, and Oliver Rae, Daniel Mayers and Nick Brown on drums. Luke Welch also appears as a vocalist.
Activity
After several line-up changes, Hello Mexico supports the self-titled EP with a UK tour with Kyte in September 2011. The band then plays several shows in early 2012, including a headline London show in January and a support slot with This Will Destroy You in April.
