Heavyball

Heavyball are a UK band based in London and active since 2011. Their sound combines indie and ska, with a mod influence, and they are described as a hard rocking act with an irreverent approach to ska. The group forms in late 2011 in Nottingham, when brothers Matt and Habs Salisbury and their school friend Johnny Iball begin playing together.

Line-up

The band’s members are Matt Salisbury, also known as Bigface, on vocals and guitar, Habs Salisbury on drums, and Johnny Iball on bass.

Releases and recording

Heavyball’s first EP, Small Town Hero, is recorded by producer Dave Creffield, who works with acts including Embrace and James. The EP is released in 2012 and receives BBC airplay across the UK. The band also records a second EP in 2012.

Influences

Their influences include The Kingsmen, Jimmy Cliff and Fleetwood Mac.
