Hadhirgaan

Hadhirgaan are a Scottish fiddle ensemble made up of sixteen young musicians from the Orkney Islands. The group comes from Kirkwall Grammar School in Kirkwall and develops under the instruction of Douglas Montgomery. Their line-up includes fiddle players supported by a rhythm section of piano, bass, guitar and bodhran.

The ensemble has been playing together for many years, with most members already performing with one another for more than eight years by the time of the release of their self-titled album, Hadhirgaan. When the group forms, many of the performers are eight years old, while Montgomery is sixteen.

In summer 2000, Hadhirgaan tour Canada and perform in Winnipeg, Toronto, Halifax and Cape Breton.
