Grief Ritual

Grief Ritual is a United Kingdom-based hardcore and metal band with a sound that combines post-metal, blackened metallic hardcore, doom and grindcore influences. The group is based in the South West and Midlands of the UK. Its music is described through a contrast between heavy, crushing passages and brief moments of bleak dread.

The band appears at Bloodstock Open Air Festival and at Arctangent x 2000 Trees’ joint event, 80Trees. It also appears at 2000 Trees Festival and Dreadfest, and supports Knocked Loose and Terror. The Quietus describes the group’s style as a nuanced exploration of caustic catharsis.

Grief Ritual’s debut single, Dissolution, is produced by Joe Clayton, whose work includes Curse These Metal Hands, Pijn and Leeched. The single is presented as a lament about the destructive and toxic cycle of capitalistic “work hard/play hard” and “love work/love life” attitudes in modern employment.
