Gouge Away

Gouge Away is a Florida hardcore punk band from Fort Lauderdale, United States. The group is active from 2013 and consists of Thomas Cantwell and Christina Michelle. It is associated with punk, hardcore, post-hardcore, noise rock and alternative rock, and is currently signed to Deathwish Records.

History

The band forms in 2012 and self-releases two EPs the following year, Still Bored and Focus Your Anger. It also tours in support of local charities and activist groups. Gouge Away later releases its debut album , Dies through Eighty-Sixed Records, and then tours with Touché Amoré, Ceremony, G.L.O.S.S. and Paint It Black.

Recordings and reception

, Dies appears in year-end lists from Brooklyn Vegan and Noisey, which rank it among the notable emo and punk albums of 2016. Commentary on the album highlights Michelle’s lyrics and their focus on animal testing, police brutality and social injustice. The band’s second album, Burnt Sugar, is released through Deathwish Records in 2018.
