Gentlemans Pistols
Gentlemans Pistols are a rock group from Leeds, England, formed in 2003. The band begins as a three-piece with singer and guitarist James Atkinson, bassist Douglas McLaughlan and drummer Simon Mawson, before line-up changes establish the group as a four-piece. Atkinson previously plays in UK hardcore group Voorhees and also works with The Horror and The Sex Maniacs.
Line-up and development
The first line-up plays only one gig before Simon Mawson is replaced by Adam Clarke in 2004. At the same time, guitarist Chris Rogers joins, and the band remains a four-piece from then on. Clarke later leaves shortly before the release of the debut album and is replaced by Stuart Dobbins, who previously plays with Leeds zombiecore group Send More Paramedics. In 2009, Chris Rogers leaves and is replaced by Bill Steer, known for his work with Carcass and Firebird.
Recordings
In 2006 the group releases the 7-inch single Just A Fraction on Art Goes Pop, followed later the same year by another 7-inch, The Lady, on Rise Above Records. Their self-titled debut album appears in 2007 on Rise Above Records. The album is distributed in Japan through Leaf Hound Records and includes the bonus track “Comatose”.
Style
The band is described as rock, and is associated with hard rock, stoner rock, blues rock, stoner and classic rock.
