French Montana

French Montana is the stage name of Karim Kharbouch, a Moroccan-American rapper born in 1984. He is originally from Rabat and moves to the United States with his family at the age of 13. He begins recording music in 2002 and releases a number of independent projects before signing a joint-venture record deal in 2012 with Bad Boy Records and Maybach Music Group.

Career

He releases his debut mixtape in 2007 and gets wider attention with the single “Choppa Choppa Down” in 2010. His debut studio album, Excuse My French, follows in 2013 and includes the single “Pop That”, which features Rick Ross, Drake and Lil Wayne. His second studio album, Jungle Rules, reaches number three on the Billboard 200.
