Freedom Hawk

Freedom Hawk is a hard rock and stoner rock group from Virginia Beach, United States. The band forms in 2003 and is made up of Mark Cave on bass, TR Morton on guitar and vocals, Lenny Hines on drums, and Matt Cave on guitar.

Style and sound

The group plays heavy rock with strong riffs, a rolling groove, and guitar melodies that draw on 1970s hard rock, psychedelic rock, and stoner metal. Its songs use heavy guitars, a driving rhythm section, and vocals that give the band a classic heavy-rock feel. The band is also known for a high-energy live show.

Formation

Mark Cave and TR Morton begin playing together before meeting drummer Lenny Hines through a mutual friend. After Hines joins, the trio feels the songs still need another guitar part, and Matt Cave later joins as the fourth member after playing with another Virginia Beach band and being asked by his brother Mark to take part.

Release activity

By 2011, Freedom Hawk is preparing a new full-length CD and vinyl LP on Small Stone Recordings.
