Florist

Florist is a Brooklyn, New York-based American indie folk project led by vocalist Emily Sprague, with Rick Spataro, Jonnie Baker and Felix Walworth also part of the group. The music is described through its soft, layered atmosphere and sentimental lyricism, and it sits within indie folk, indie pop, lo-fi and folk.

There is also a separate Finnish post-rock band with the same name. That group forms around Mikko Itkonen’s ideas in the late 1990s and becomes an actual band in 2006 in Hamula, Siilinjärvi. Its line-up includes Mikko Itkonen, Jukka Kekäläinen, Joona Ikonen, Sampsa Daavitsainen, Markku Pitkänen and Juha Soili.

The Finnish Florist draws on post-rock and related alternative influences, including Mogwai, Magenta Skycode, Circle, Magyar Posse, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, The Cure, Joy Division, My Dad Is Dead, Echo & The Bunnymen, Editors, Interpol, Placebo and Bloc Party.
