Fister

Fister is a sludge, doom and stoner metal group from St. Louis, United States, active since 2009. It is a three-piece band made up of Kirk Gatterer, Marcus Newstead and Kenny Snarzyk.

The band’s sound combines doom metal, sludge metal and stoner metal with heavy influences from black metal and death metal. Its music is described in terms of dense heaviness and bleak atmosphere, with a style that draws on extreme metal rather than conventional hard rock forms.

Among its releases, the full-length Gemini is a notable album in the band’s catalogue. Fister also works with producer and engineer Gabe Usery, including on a split release with Oregon band Norska.

The band is associated with listeners of Burning Witch, Rwake, Craft, Yob and Khanate.
