Finnebassen

Finnebassen is a Norwegian house producer and DJ based in Oslo. His music develops from a shift away from teenage genre-hopping towards electronic music in 2008, when he arrives at the deep house sound associated with him.

Style and background

His tracks are described as dark and melancholic house, with elements that sit between deep house, nu-disco and electronic music. A distinctive feature of his productions is the use of guitar, which he plays himself on many tracks.

He cites Maceo Plex, Solomun, Art Department and other leading house artists as influences, and aims to present a smooth house style of his own.

Releases and label activity

Finnebassen has produced music and played live in Oslo for a long time, and he begins gaining wider attention in 2012 through both performance and production. His track If You Only Knew is taken up by the UK label Electronique and issued with remixes by Matt Fear, The Mekanism and Balcazar & Sordo. The original reaches number 3 on the Beatport Nu Disco chart.

In the same period, Noir Music releases Second Chances and Romances EP, which includes the tracks Touching Me and Such a High. Touching Me reaches number 1 on Beatport’s Deep House chart and is played by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 in his “Wonderments” section.

Further original material is due on NastyFunk Records, Sleazy Deep and Acid Fruits, and he also works on remixes for Nurvous Records, Get Physical Music and OFF Recordings. His remix of Brandy’s Baby is picked up for release by The House of Disco, which also features his track Bleedin Out on its House of Dikso compilation.

Performances

Finnebassen plays regularly at Oslo venues such as Jaeger and The Villa, and also performs internationally, with appearances in Berlin, Greece and the UK. His schedule also includes dates linked to Watergate in Berlin, Amsterdam ADE, and a tour of Brazil.
