Cheshire acoustic folk group
Fine Lines is a folk-influenced rock group from Tokyo. It forms in 2003, when Kazuya Hirabayashi starts the band with George Kurosawa on lead guitar and backing vocals, and Yutaka Katayama on drums. Hirabayashi is a former member of Husking Bee and also works as the voice actor for the main character in the anime series BECK. Tetsuya Kudo, formerly the bassist in Husking Bee, also takes part in the band’s activities until 2008, when he leaves.
The band begins as an all-acoustic project and does not aim for a major-label path at first. After Husking Bee disbands in 2005, the group puts more effort into Fine Lines and develops a style that combines upbeat rock with folk-like, western guitar sounds. This approach leads to the full-length album Substratosphere, released in 2007.
Other uses of the name
Fine Lines is also the name of a punk band from Washington, DC, and a folk band from Knutsford, Cheshire in the UK.
