films

films is a Tokyo-based Japanese ambient, electronic and experimental group. It is one of the projects associated with Anoice and is described as a neo-classical/ambient unit.

Overview

The group centres on two female vocalists who sing in languages they create themselves. Its music combines piano and string instrumentation with electric, destructive rhythms, placing it between classical, ambient and post-rock-related styles.

Members and production

Yuki Murata and Takahiro Kido are the members named for the group. Murata, who is also part of Anoice, composes the tracks, while Kido handles arrangement and mixing. KASHIWA Daisuke masters the recordings, and RAKU-GAKI contributes to the group’s visual and design work.

Recordings

The first album, Messenger, appears on Noble Label in 2010. The second album, a forbidden garden, appears on Ricco Label in 2013. Ricco Label is a Tokyo-based neo-classical/post-rock label established by Anoice.
