Electric Citizen

Electric Citizen is a Cincinnati, Ohio rock group formed in 2013. The band consists of guitarist Ross Dolan, vocalist Laura Dolan, bassist Nick Vogelpohl and drummer Nate Wagner. It is active from 2013 to the present and is associated with heavy psych and rock, with a Sabbath-style sound.

Style and influences

The group plays dark, esoteric rock that draws on 1960s West Coast psych, British-influenced heavy psychedelia and early 1970s proto-metal. Their music is compared with artists such as Blood Ceremony, Wolf People and Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, and also with the sound of Sir Lord Baltimore, Pentagram, Amon Düül, Frumpy and Shocking Blue. Laura Dolan’s voice and stage presence are central to the band’s identity.

Debut album

Electric Citizen’s debut album, Sateen, is recorded and produced by Brian Olive, known for work with The Greenhornes and Soledad Brothers. The record establishes the band’s heavy psych approach and the record’s material is linked to the roots of early 1970s proto-metal.
