DJ Isaac is the performance name of Roel Schutrups, a Dutch DJ and producer born in Winschoten, in the north of the Netherlands. He begins his career making remixes for Dutch radio stations using basic equipment, including an old tape recorder and a small Casio sampler, before developing his own production style.
His first record, Bad Dreams, appears in 1995 and becomes a major Dutch hardcore techno hit. He goes on to establish himself as one of the early figures in Dutch hardcore techno and also works as a DJ. His music takes him to countries including the United States, Australia, Japan, Colombia, Russia, Italy and Spain.
Remixes and collaborations
In 1999, DJ Isaac makes his first club-trance remix with Hani’s Baby Wants To Ride, which becomes a top-ten European chart hit. He later remixes tracks for Scoop, C.R.W. with Mauro Picotto, Cosmic Gate, Brooklyn Bounce and Safri Duo.
He also works with Pronti & Kalmani, a Dutch DJ and producer duo, presenting dance charts on Radio 538 every Saturday night for more than a year. With them, he starts the hardhouse project P.I.K., which reaches the Dutch dance charts for many weeks.
Other work
Alongside producer Michiel van der Kuy, DJ Isaac contributes four tracks to the Alice Deejay album Who needs guitars anyway?, which achieves gold and platinum status in multiple countries. His hit records On the Edge and Go Insane are also part of his output.
