Dirty Laundry

Dirty Laundry is an Australian deep house act associated with the Melbourne club scene. It begins in 2004 as the project of Melbourne DJs JJ Styles and Dean Cherny. The act is known for mixing house and dance music with indie rock, pop and electronica, and for presenting shows that combine video animation, dance and live musical performance.

Performance and visual work

Dirty Laundry’s live presentation includes the Intergalactic Video Show, a series of animated clips made to be synced with the music. The concept is designed for arena-style events but also adapts to club shows.

Releases and chart activity

The debut single, Disco Infected, peaks at number 10 on the ARIA Club Chart in August 2008. It is followed by Hate Me, which reaches number 8 and spends five weeks in the ARIA Club Chart top 10. The video for Hate Me receives commercial airplay. Later singles include I Want You To Fly and Downtown Underground, which show a new direction for the act, and Mexico.

Album and collaborators

Dirty Laundry works towards its first studio album, and the project includes contributions from Australian writers and producers including Cheyne Coates of Madison Avenue, Styalz Fuego and Timothy Dudfield of Mr Timothy. The album is described as drawing on funk, disco, and indie electro-pop influences.
