Deap Vally

Deap Vally is a Californian female blues rock duo from Los Angeles, formed in 2011. The group consists of Lindsey Troy on guitar and vocals, and Julie Edwards on drums.

Edwards meets Troy at a needlework class in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, and they connect over their shared interest in music, especially the blues. Their early live demos and videos circulate online before the release of their debut single, Gonna Make My Own Money, on Ark Recordings in 2012.

The single receives a strong response in both the United States and the United Kingdom. The duo plays its first London show at the Old Blue Last and appears at festivals including Hyde Park with Iggy Pop, Latitude Festival in Suffolk, and Reading and Leeds. It also plays a debut performance in Japan in 2012, sharing a bill with artists including Thurston Moore and Dinosaur Jr.

Deap Vally’s live sound draws comparisons with The Black Keys and Jack White. Its debut album is scheduled for release on Island Records and Communion in 2013.
