Dappy is a British singer-songwriter, rapper and actor of Greek descent. He is the stage name of Costadinos Contostavlos, born in 1987 in the United Kingdom.

Career

Dappy is best known as the lead singer of N-Dubz, a Camden-based grime, hip hop and R&B trio. The group includes his cousin Tulisa Contostavlos and their friend Fazer, also known as Richard Rawson. His solo work includes the single “No Regrets”, which reaches number one in the UK, and two mixtapes.

Solo releases and collaborations

His first mixtape, D-A-P's to the Y, features Frisco, Black the Ripper, Chipmunk, Wiley, Cookie G, Double S and Kano. His second mixtape, Hot off These Steets, features Scorcher, Ghetts, G Frsh, Wizzy Wow, Wretch 32, Sway, Tempa T and Mercston. Both mixtapes are solo releases and do not involve Tulisa or Fazer.

Style and image

Dappy is known for his unusual dress sense and for wearing eye-catching headwear. A trademark part of his image is a woolly chullo, sometimes called a “Dappy hat”, with one or both ear flaps turned up.
