Daniel Merriweather is an Australian R&B singer and songwriter from Melbourne, Victoria. He is born in 1982 and records on Allido Records and Marlin Records.

Career

His first commercially released recording is a guest appearance on “All I Want”, a track on the Australian dance act Disco Montego’s self-titled album in 2002. In 2007, he provides vocals for Mark Ronson’s version of “Stop Me”, a cover of a Smiths song, which reaches number 2 on the UK singles chart. In the same year, he also co-writes and features on Wiley’s third single from his fourth album, “Cash In My Pocket”, which reaches number 18 in the UK singles chart.

Love & War

Merriweather releases his first studio album, Love & War, in 2009. It debuts at number 2 on the UK albums chart after selling 43,000 copies in its first week. The album also reaches number 6 on the Australian Urban albums chart, number 15 on the Irish albums chart, and number 32 on the German and Australian album charts.

Singles

The lead single, “Change”, features rapper Wale and peaks at number 8 on the UK singles chart, making it his second top 10 hit in the UK. It also reaches number 6 in Switzerland, number 11 in Austria, number 13 in Germany and number 41 in Australia. The second single, “Red”, enters the UK singles chart at number 5 and stays there for four consecutive weeks, becoming his second top 10 hit as lead vocalist and third overall. It also reaches number 9 on the Irish singles chart. The third single from the album, “Impossible”, peaks at number 67.

Unreleased album

He also records an album in 2006 titled The Fifth Season.
