Company Flow

Company Flow are a Brooklyn hip hop group active from 1992 to 2001. The group consists of El-P, Bigg Jus and Mr. Len, and their music is associated with abstract hip hop, boom bap, East Coast hip hop, experimental hip hop, hip hop and underground hip hop.

History

The group forms in New York and becomes closely associated with the underground hip hop movement of the late 1990s. Their debut album, Funcrusher Plus, appears in 1997 and is often cited as a catalyst for the new underground scene that develops around that period.

In 1998, Company Flow collaborate with Juggaknots and J-Treds under the name Indelible MC's, contributing to the Lyricist Lounge compilation. Bigg Jus leaves the group in 1999, and Company Flow disband in 2000.

After the group

After the split, El-P and Mr. Len continue as a duo and release the instrumental album Little Johnny From the Hospitul. El-P goes on to expand the roster of his label Definitive Jux, while Mr. Len starts Dummy Smacks Records. Bigg Jus launches Sub Verse Music, which becomes a distribution point for conscious independent hip hop, and later lives in Atlanta while releasing solo and collaborative records.

Reunion

In 2007, El-P and Bigg Jus briefly reunite on stage at the CMJ Music Festival in New York. A 10th anniversary reissue of Funcrusher Plus is planned for Def Jux, alongside material that the group are meant to record, but the release is delayed.
